Jogeshwari Education Society (JES) is one of the oldest, well renowned and greatly respected institution in Jogeshwari East. The institute was founded more than 87 years ago. As long back as in 1932, a few dedicated Saraswats sowed the seeds of education in a small residential house in Saraswati Baug. The founder of the institute was Mr. S.G. Warty, who had a great passion for education. He embarked on this noble journey with just 16 students of the fifth and the sixth standard with him. ‘Sheelam Param Bhushanam’ is the tag-line of the Society, which means “Education alone is the best decoration of a human being.” The small sapling of JES which was cultivated in 1932 has now grown into a big tree, bearing fruits for one and all. Now the Society owns two buildings, housing a Primary School (Marathi Medium) aided by the BMC and a Secondary School (Marathi Medium & Semi-English Medium) famously known as ‘Arvind Gandbhir High School’ aided by the Government of Maharashtra, JES English School, Junior and Degree College.

In the year 1953, Arvind Gandbhir School had acquired High School status and in 1956, First School Building was constructed with a generous donation by Mr. Balkrishna G. Gandbhir. In the year 1971, Arvind Gandbhir High School (AGHS) building was constructed at Caves Road, Opp. Jogeshwari East Railway Station and later in the year 1976, First Floor of the same building was constructed. In 2005, Second Floor of AGHS was constructed for serving the Higher Education needs.
